WACPAW TRAINS LIVESTOCK FARMERS ON IMPROVED MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
WACPAW officials visited some communities in Northern Ghana to train and educate the livestock farmers on the essence of providing shelter for animals during adverse weather conditions, and the regular supply of clean, cool and fresh water to their animals at all times, in simple but decent facilities.
In addition, the farmers were trained on adopting simple measures to control ecto-parasites and pathogens in general among their livestock, by providing medicated footbaths at the entrance of the pens.
The farmers were very excited upon acquiring such knowledge and skills to improve the welfare and productivity of their animals, without paying anything for such services. This would go a long way to improve their living conditions, as they would spend less money to treat diseases in their stock.
