Reducing Animal Suffering: Humane Slaughter Solutions in Ghana

We are thrilled to announce that WACPAW, in collaboration with EonA, has successfully built and delivered more poultry restraint cones to the University of Cape Coast slaughterhouse in Ghana. These cones, along with our poultry stun gun, will be installed soon, marking a significant milestone in our mission to reduce animal suffering in Ghana.

As an organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare, we recognize the importance of educating the next generation of slaughter men and women on humane slaughter practices. Many young students at the University learn how to slaughter animals, and we are committed to ensuring that they do so with minimal pain and distress.

Traditionally, poultry are subjected to inhumane treatment, being grabbed, having their throats cut while fully conscious, and then left to suffer in a drain pit. We are putting an end to this brutal practice. With our restraint cones and stun gun, birds will be humanely stunned and rendered unconscious before being slaughtered, significantly reducing their suffering.

At WACPAW, we believe that every animal deserves to be treated with compassion and respect. Our work is focused on creating a more humane and sustainable food system in Ghana, and we are proud to be taking concrete steps towards achieving this goal
